Claire Lakey
Accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (MNCPS)

I’m Claire Lakey, a qualified and accredited counsellor working online with adults across the UK.

I work with people who are feeling uncertain, pressured or unsettled in their working lives, and who want space to think more clearly about what’s happening and what comes next.

Work is changing rapidly. Technology, automation and AI are reshaping roles and expectations across many industries, raising difficult questions about confidence, relevance and what comes next.

In my work with clients navigating questions about direction and confidence at work, I see how complex these decisions can become — especially when they affect finances, family and your sense of who you are. It’s often difficult to see clearly when you’re inside the situation.

My role is to help you make sense of what’s happening, regain perspective, and see more clearly the choices in front of you.

Earlier in my career I worked in design and construction, fields that required planning, structure and working creatively within real-world constraints. That experience continues to shape how I think about change, pressure and the ways people adapt over time.

Alongside counselling, my career has included work across business, education and data analysis, including time working as a lecturer. These experiences give me a practical understanding of the pressures, responsibilities and changing demands many people face in modern working life.

Like many of the people I work with, I’ve also balanced professional life alongside family life, and understand how work decisions can affect much more than just work itself.

Life is rarely straightforward, and many people are carrying far more complexity and pressure than is visible on the surface. Part of the work is learning how to regain perspective, recognise possibilities and move forward thoughtfully within the realities of life as it is.

My Approach

My approach is grounded in Transactional Analysis (TA), a collaborative and practical form of psychotherapy. TA can help people understand patterns in how they think, respond and make decisions, so they can move forward with greater clarity, confidence and steadiness.

Sessions are confidential and take place online.

I offer a free 30-minute consultation so you can ask questions, understand how I work and see whether working together feels right for you.
